Ruminating on Classdojo.com

www.Classdojo.com. Two words. Use it. Although this is not a technology that is mentioned in the class textbook, I think it is worthy of my post. This site creates an easy to use class management system. You can add classes of students giving them points for good behavior or detracting points for negatives. This enables you to track how students are doing in your class, and it also enables them to see how they are doing, as well as their parents. It is online and so parents can see how their students are doing in real time. It is a very cool tool.

I was at a conference and a teacher who has taught in D.C. for the past few years highly recommended it. You should go on and create an account. I plan to use it in the classroom.

  1. This is awesome. When I completed field, my co-op suggested that I do something very similar to this. Except it was in a binder... on paper... by hand. That just seemed like a TON of work to me.

This tool is so much more useful than carrying around that huge, clunky binder. Thanks for the site!

  2. Interesting. I know that my high school used something like this, but it was a program that you needed a key for, and if your computer crashed, you lost everything. I might give it a try.

  3. This does look really neat, especially the fact that it can be used on a smartphone, makes things simple. The only thing that worries me is the potential cost. It's currently free for teachers who are in the beta, but this is currently limited. After the beta I'm positive a cost will be chosen, but who knows, it may be worth it in the end.

  4. I really like this idea as well. It seems extremely simple to use and I love that the students and parents are able to see it as well. Thanks for sharing!
